Miles Davis was an icon. A maverick. A monumental innovator. A musical visionary who helped define the course of jazz and popular culture in the 20th century. From the mid 40s right up to his death in 1991 Miles spearheaded and pioneered all of the major genre shifts in jazz.
From the early years of bebop, a young Miles played with the great musicians of the period Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. Then through the 50s and 60s Miles was at the cutting edge of cool jazz, hard bop and modal jazz. Later his music evolved into fusions of jazz/rock, jazz/funk and even jazz hip hop - Will Collier’s quartet will pay homage to all of these eras.
Bass player Will Collier is a founding member of the Horne Section and leader of the Will Collier Septet who have released two albums. He has appeared on BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4 and performed with Bobby McFerrin, Ed Sheeran, Jamie Cullum, Cleo Laine, Joe Stilgoe, Claire Teal, Katherine Jenkins, Tinie Tempah, Imogen Heap, Atomic Kitten, Big Zuu, Suggs, Robbie Williams to name a few.
You'll be treated to this mesmerizing performance in the perfect intimate setting of The Brewery Yard Club. Immerse yourself in Rye's vibrant music scene, enjoy delicious drinks, and mingle with fellow jazz enthusiasts. Whether you're a devoted jazz aficionado or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of live music, this evening promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Miles Davis's musical legacy.
